Astronaut John Bull (right) is wearing an extra-vehicular suit which can be worn on the lunar surface. The suit is a thermo-meteoroid garment which will give protection against micrometeoroids and the lunar cold and heat. The other suit worn by astronaut James Irwin is an intra-vehicular suit which will be worn inside the spacecraft. The dark patches at the knee are Chromal-R, a metallic fabric sewn on the areas which will receive excessive wear to prevent tearing of the suit.
